Greg, I wanted to take a couple of minutes to thank you again for building such a great home. The only reason this note isn’t several pages long is that I want to make sure it actually gets read. Katie and I couldn’t be happier about the house. Everyone that have seen it so far has been very impressed. Often we get asked, “What upgrades did you choose?” When we say we didn’t have to do any, we get surprised looks. Many of the homes we looked at did some obvious and some not so obvious things to “just get it done.” Now that we are settled in, I know that had we gone in another direction, I would never have upgraded fixtures or finished the basement on my own. Looking at many houses and weighing the pro’s and con’s of each got to be overwhelming until I asked Katie,” which house would you be disappointed if we didn’t get?” Our decision was made and we moved in a week later. Now, what was a beautiful house is now our home. We can’t imagine starting our life together anywhere else. I apologize for calling so much with probably dumb questions, but I appreciate you always taking time to explain something or helping me out.

Gregory Allen Homes built our wonderful home in 2010. From our first meeting with Greg to look at plans and discuss construction costs, we felt very comfortable working with this experienced home building professional. When we decided on a plan that did not include a porch, one of our dreams, Greg’s architect added one to the design. He also worked with the architect to redesign the stairs to the lower level to give us more usable space on the upper floor.
Through out the process, Greg explored ways to save us money. For example, he suggested installing a high efficiency furnace, and air-conditioning unit, Low-E windows, and blown in insulation was a must as future money savers, and during this past very cold winter, our energy costs were about half of what we paid in the much smaller home we sold.
One of the things we really appreciated about Greg was his flexibility in working with us through out the building process. For instance, he converted an area that was originally planned to be a large utility closet into a beautiful book nook for our library. Just before the drywall went up, we decided we wanted to install surround sound in both the upper and lower levels. Greg contacted his installer who was able to do this quickly, so as not to delay the project. In addition, near the end of construction, we decided to have Greg install the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and trim work in the lower level, so we could finish the rest of the basement ourselves at a later time.
Probably Greg’s most important asset as a home builder was his attention to detail. Everyday, Greg was present at our home site inspecting the subcontractors’ work. If their work did not meet his high expectations, he had them redo the work. He was also very good at returning telephone calls and dealing with any concerns we may have had about the construction process.
Finally, as with every large project there are a few bugs to be worked out of the system. Our bugs have been very few, and Greg has honored the guarantee that came with our home.
